The 8th National Conference of Higher Education Philanthropists was held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, hosted by the Yazd University in Iran. The event brought together the Deputy Minister of Science, officials from the Iranian Foundation for Science and Technology Supporters, university presidents from across the country, and a group of benevolent individuals dedicated to advancing higher education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Masoud Shamsbakhsh, Iran\u2019s Deputy Minister of Science, Research, and Technology, emphasized the vital role of philanthropists in the scientific development of the country. He stated that the primary goal of the conference was to honor those who, with a sense of responsibility, contribute to the nation’s academic growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Highlighting the importance of efficiency and transparency in the use of charitable resources, Dr. Shamsbakhsh noted: \u201cWe must manage philanthropic contributions with precision, honesty, and clarity, and continuously report the progress of initiatives to the donors. Aligning with the donors\u2019 goals and ensuring proper allocation of resources are key to maintaining trust and sustaining this powerful movement.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Mohammad Hossein Omid \u2013 CEO of the Iran Foundation of Science and Technology and Acting President of the University of Tehran \u2013 delivered a keynote address at the conference, reflecting on the foundation\u2019s ten-year activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Omid highlighted the foundation\u2019s successful performance at Yazd University, adding, \u201cLast year, in collaboration with Dr. Ghasem Barid Loghmani, CEO of the Yazd University Supporters Foundation, the share of student loans and insurance for Yazd students increased through the participation of benefactors.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He went on to invite philanthropists to maintain active involvement in campaigns, stating, \u201cToday, more than ever, we need the support of individuals to advance higher education and empower students.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Abbas Kalantari \u2013 President of Yazd University \u2013 also spoke at the event, expressing gratitude for the impactful role of benefactors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The president also announced the signing of an MoU with the Ministry of Science\u2019s Administrative and Financial Deputy to construct 550 additional married student dormitory units. He expressed hope that the project would be completed within one to two years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the ceremony, Dr. Hajeb Mortaz \u2013 a distinguished supporter from Yazd University \u2013 and 17 outstanding benefactors from universities across the country were honored for their effective contributions to students and higher education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other key parts of the gathering included a specialized panel discussion on the challenges of graduate employment, the launch of the national campaign \u201cSupport for Student Empowerment and Employability,\u201d and a training workshop on tax exemptions for benefactors and the \u201cTax Labeling\u201d initiative aimed at transparently directing financial resources toward higher education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
