The 13th Festival Honoring Philanthropists and Donors of the University of Tehran was held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025. The event aimed to recognize the vital role of benefactors in advancing the university’s academic and welfare infrastructure.
Dr. Mohammad Hossein Omid, Acting President of the University of Tehran, emphasized the irreplaceable impact of public support in developing educational and dormitory facilities. He noted that the philanthropic model established by the University of Tehran is now being followed by over 50 other universities across Iran.
Referring to the tragic earthquake of Bam, Dr. Omid emphasized the need to ensure earthquake-resistant university buildings, and stated that with the help of donors, 2,500 new dormitory beds and thousands of square meters of educational space have been created so far.
Dr. Mahmoud Kamarei, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Tehran Support Foundation, announced that in 2024, donors contributed a total of 1.14 billion tomans, with 330 billion tomans allocated specifically for dormitory renovations.
During the ceremony, the Jamili Science and Technology Foundation was also honored as one of the university’s key benefactors. The foundation has played a significant role in enhancing academic capacity through its targeted support for scientific development.
Mr. Ebrahim Jamili, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Dr. Shadi Jamili, Vice Chair of the Jamili Foundation, were also present at the festival.
